A Personalized Mail Club
Romanticize your future self.
Know them, love them, and give them a better life.
Meet your future self in about 2 minutes.
Another Year. Same Life.
Did this year turn out the way you wanted?
Did the worries ease up, or do the same ones still find you? Did the resolution stick? That situation you swore you'd change by now: the job, the habit, the relationship. Is it still there?
It's not your fault. Our brains are wired for now. And the truth is, looking five years ahead can be frightening, so we don't look. We keep our heads down, our eyes on today, and let our future self blur into a stranger, but five years from now, they're living with the choices we make this week.
We don't lose sleep over strangers. We don't save for them, or make the hard changes for them, or do the difficult thing today on their behalf.
Your Future Self Pays the Price
So the year turns, and nothing moves. You take the easy yes. You skip the walk. You put yourself last again, until the person you're becoming inherits every shortcut.
Your future self pays for today.
Making the Stranger a Friend
According to research, closeness is the fix. The more real your future self feels, the better the choices you make for them.
This is what Dear Future Self is for.
We turn befriending your future self into a treat that lands in your mailbox, the real one, once a month. One envelope at a time, the stranger becomes a friend, someone you'd never let down.
Better Decisions, Better Life
When they're real to you, your life gets better. You start making decisions with them in the room. The yes you gave too fast becomes a no. You stop handing everyone else your best and saving your future self the scraps. You quit putting off the kind things, and start treating your body like someone you care for.
This isn't wishful thinking. UCLA psychologist Hal Hershfield has spent over a decade proving it: the closer you feel to your future self, the kinder your choices become. Daniel Bartels and Oleg Urminsky at the University of Chicago found the same holds for money. Feel close to your future self, and you'll save more and sacrifice more to do right by them.
The closer you grow to them, the better the life you build.
That's Dear Future Self: a better life, one letter at a time.

Is This Right For Me?
The Mail Club was made with specific people in mind.
- People who want to make better decisions for the person they're becoming.
- Anyone in a season where today's choices feel heavier than usual: a move, a new job, a hard year, a new beginning.
- Anyone who feels disconnected from the person they'll be in five years.
- People whose attention runs in flickers. When executive function is uneven, your future self feels especially far away. The letters make your future self real, a little at a time.

Questions People Ask
What's the science?
UCLA psychologist Hal Hershfield has spent over a decade showing that most of us experience our future selves as strangers, and we make decisions accordingly. On brain scans, picturing the person we will be in twenty years lights up the same regions as picturing someone we have never met. When that gap closes, we save more, take fewer reckless risks, and treat ourselves more kindly. Writing to your future self is one of the simplest, most-studied ways to close it.
What if I miss a week?
That's okay. Your letter still arrives, gathered from whatever reflections you did write. We're not keeping score; we're keeping your words. Any missing sections will be filled with something special for you.
Is my writing private?
Your reflections stay yours. Nothing is shared, sold, or shown to anyone. We archive them safely, and only you ever see them.
